Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the team enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
